Teen Action Group (TAG)

TAG is a school-based group of junior high students that work together to plan and implement community based alternative activities. This group of students, from Central Middle School in Hartford, signs a commitment to stay drug and alcohol free. Their mission is to educate their peers about the benefits of healthy lifestyles free from drugs and alcohol.

TAG members plan and coordinate four middle school dances and a Lock in during the school year that are held at the Hartford Recreation Center and open to all junior high students. Between 300 and 350 teens attend each activity. Monies raised from the activities are reinvested back into the community to establish additional drug free youth programming.

TAG donates money every summer to offset the cost of bus rentals for junior high outings to destinations like Wisconsin Dells, Crystal River and Great America. This lowers the overall cost of the outings making it more affordable for a greater number of junior high teens to participate.

TAG is a combined effort of The Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse of Washington County, The Hartford Park and Recreation Department and Central Middle School.
